Clint Eastwood makes a joke about Caitlyn Jenner | Grab the lynch mob!

Utterly shocking, reprehensible news, everyone! While presenting an award to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at Spike TV’s Guy’s Choice 2015 awards, the despicable Clint Eastwood (aka Blondie, aka Dirty Harry, aka William Munny, aka the guy who talked to a chair that time) made an offhand joke about the holy, world-respected Bruce Caityln Jenner. Deplorable fiend!

While introducing Johnson, Eastwood compared “The Rock” to other former athletes of the past who have become actors, such as, and I quote, “Jim Brown and Caitlyn somebody…” Devilish scoundrel!

How dare he suggest that... wait, what was the joke again? That he can't remember the name of an actual athlete who became an actor, even though that particular athlete is all over the news at the moment and you can't avoid her name? Hmm. Remind me, how is this offensive?

Sigh. Shut up, world. Wouldja?

The media and society have each reacted terribly offended, as usual, for this apparently "hateful" joke. Spike TV is even going to be cutting it from the soon-to-air show, and the news and blogosphere have already begun giving Eastwood his obligatory spankings. You know the spankings I'm talking about. They’re the same ones given to that Drake Bell guy; the ones that pushed him into a public apology for "offensively" tweeting, “Sorry… still calling you Bruce”.

Or how about the spanking Snoop Dogg received for posting on his Instagram, “Shout out to Akon ! He is about to supply 600 million Africans with solar power. Im really upset that this isn’t major news but that science project bruce jenner is #Society”.

Well, alright. Maybe the Snoop thing is a little harsh. But he's always been an idiot. Never mind him.

The point is, this lynch mob stuff is getting a little old. At least save it for real hateful offenses and mean spirited comments. Not innocent jokes and comments about popular public figures (if we take offensiveness out of jokes, the world is destined to become a very unfunny, Jeff Dunham-esque place). What's next? We can't make fun of republicans or liberals? What about all these presidential candidates? Isn't it bad enough that we can't call our douche bag friends "retarded" without doing so secretly, where no sensitive ears can hear? Heaven forbid someone think we're mentally-challenged-phobic. Or whatever the hell name they've made up for people who don't like retards.

It’s great that Jenner has become the person she wants to be and that awareness has been brought to a largely unknown and unacknowledged section of society, but take it easy, people. Not every non-worshipful, non-"you go girl!" comment about this person is due to transphobia or bigotry. Sometimes they're just jokes. This political correctness is becoming a bit over the top. With each new day, it's turning more into of a witch hunt than an actual quest for social justice. Remember that Twilight Zone episode where they kept accusing their neighbors of being aliens? This is that. Only now, the extraterrestrial accusations have been replaced by accusing people of being homophobe's and racists.

The fact is, this is still a has-been celebrity we’re talking about here (not to mention the one responsible for the Kardashians). It’s not Mahatma Gandhi. So how about we take the stick out of our collective asses. Eh?
