New on Netflix today! August 1st, 2015

The first of the month is finally here! This is when Netflix ushers in its biggest list of new movies and TV shows for the new month and, boy-oh-boy, what a let down it is this August.

For movies, we've got 2008's Academy Award winning, The Hurt Locker, several sure-to-be-great documentaries, a Bollywood movie, one of those new weird-haired Nicholas Cage action flicks, some dreck that Tyler Perry is presenting, two documentaries by Russell Brand (pft), and a handful of movies that most of us have never heard of but, let's hope to Christmas, that they're diamonds in the rough (they're probably not).

On the TV side of things, the pickings are slim. One noteworthy addition, though, is volume 1 of the classic Reading Rainbow educational series. In a way, this addition kind of makes all of today's crap worth it. After all, what's better than having Geordi La Forge read us story books?
