New on Netflix today! November 1, 2015

At the beginning of each new month, our pals at Netflix typically hook us up with a somewhat large list of new additions to their streaming library. Granted, they're not all always gold, but mixed into their big piles, there's usually several diamonds in the rough. For this November, 2015, unfortunately, both the large list and the diamonds are completely absent. Worse? Aside from one or two notable additions in the next several weeks, all the good stuff is going to continue to be absent for the rest of the month. Cue rage.

The best we get today is several obscure documentaries and, for those of you with kiddos, a couple of child-oriented television programs.

Arrangements were made to record an album in South Africa and Mali, but just as Idris was about to start work his father, Winston, passed away. He decided that the music he produced would be dedicated to Winston and Mandela. Elba asked BAFTA award-winning director Daniel Vernon to document this period of his life as he dealt with grief, worked on the album and promoted Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The film was originally intended to focus on the recording of the album, but it evolved into something far deeper. Mandela, My Dad and Me not only documents one mans struggle in producing his fist album, but also his emotional quest to pay a fitting homage to the two men who had inspired him most.
