New on Netflix today! May 1st, 2016

The first of the month is here, movie-lovers! This means two wonderful things: 1.) My foodstamp card is about to be refilled (thank you very much, Mr. Obama), and 2.) Netflix's monthly big-batch of new additions has made its way to their library.

This month, that aforementioned batch isn't quite so big as we'd like. Sure, it's never as good as we'd like, but this month things are just ridiculous. There's barely anything at all here worth even mentioning. The best of the bunch (out of what this film-fanatic has seen, at least) probably includes the indie film Things We Lost in the Fire, from 2007, Pleasantville (1998), and one of Alfred Hitchcocks less-memorable movies, To Catch a Thief. There's also a few "eh" additions like Eddie Murphy's The Nutty Professor and the classic Sixteen Candles that, while fine, are movies that we've all seen so many times we've grown pretty sick of them.

Along with this there are several stand-up specials (no one worth mentioning), Bring It On and one of its sequels that you've never bothered (and will continue not to bother) watching, a decent Ryan Reynolds comedy that came out before the guy was a superstar, a Christian documentary that tries desperately to prove there's a god, several things that I couldn't even find Imdb entries for, a documentary about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and an alright modern (well, modern in 1998) adaptation of Charles Dickens Great Expectations
