I needed a banner for this page and didn't feel like drawing anything creative. So here's a Gutter Monkey on a controller with "GAMING" written over the top
I've been playing video games all my life. Literally, for as long as I can remember. I've been through the likes of Atari, NES, SNES, Sega, Game Boy, Game Gear, PC, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, VR, and even an assortment of that old Tiger electronics garbage (remember those? Oof, they were bad). Anyway, a few years back — particularly, after completing the video games BioShock and Soma — I was so excited by the plots of these games that I decided to look up other peoples playthroughs of them on YouTube so that I could watch other players' first reactions to my favorite bits. Mostly so that I could kind of re-experience my own first time with those games through their eyes. This ended up turning into a bit of a binge of Let's Plays. A medium that, up until this point, I'd had no previous experience with.

While I never got into the likes of characters like PewDiePie for this, as he seemed too loud and silly when I preferred people to take games more seriously (I did get interested in his non-gaming videos a few years later, however), I did watch such gamers as Christopher Odd and found the playthroughs very enjoyable. After a while of this, I began to think it looked like a fun and relatively simple thing to do (and would be a nice way of documenting my own first experiences with games, as a sort of video time capsule) so I decided, from then on out, I'll record myself playing every game I start (well, almost every game). So, I grabbed the cheapest equipment I could get my hands on and got to it. Below is a list of games I've done thus far.

Also, if I end up writing or creating other things that pertain to gaming, I'll go ahead and slap links to that stuff on this page as well. Because, well... why not?

Nevets Plays Detroit: Become Human

Androids, Quantic Dream, and Clancy Brown? Those are, like, three of my favorite things. And they're all in this game! Sadly, of course, so are many life and death decisions. So stress-levels will undoubtedly be high.
Nevets Plays Resident Evil 2 - Leon (Remake)

Today we go back to Racoon City for the Resident Evil 2 remake. My first playthrough is the Leon story.
Nevets Plays INSIDE

My first playthrough of the video game, INSIDE. This is the second game by the independent video game developer Playdead, who previously brought us LIMBO. Like LIMBO, it's a strange and enigmatic world which I neither comprehend nor excel at. But I did enjoy.
Nevets Plays Resident Evil

This is my first full-length playthrough of the iconic, 1996 video game, Resident Evil. This is the HD Remaster of the game, which was released in 2002.
Nevets Plays The Bunker

Part game, part live action movie, this Bandersnatchy little adventure game was a fun little experience that lasted only a few hours. It's about a guy in a bunker who does stuff.
Nevets Plays Outlast 2

After falling in love with both Outlast (2013), and Outlast: Whistleblower (2014), I was brimming with excitement for this 2017 sequel. Here's footage of my first experiences with that game and all the horrors and nauseating surprises I'd experienced along the way.
Nevets Plays Outlast: Whistleblower

This is the DLC prequel to the original Outlast video game. Don't let the "DLC" portion of that turn you off, however, as this is actually a good game in its own right, which adds super well to the main game's story. And, for my money, it's much more disturbing.
Nevets Plays Outlast

Actual found-footage of my very first, terrifying experience with the 2013 first-person, horror video game, Outlast. Expect a plethora of lady-like screaming and anxiety-driven indecisiveness. I absolutely adored this game and fully intend on playing the sequel very soon.
Mom ♥'s PSVR (YouTube link)

Finally bit the bullet and purchased a PlayStation VR thingamajig. Figured I'd let my dear old ma' give 'er a go with the game Job Simulator when she popped in today. Was pleasantly surprised at how much she enjoyed it, and how intuitive she found it (she doesn't play video games normally, so it caught me off guard). That being said, it was kind of a dull video to share, so I went ahead and sped it up and plopped some music in over top of it to livin' things up a little. Nevets Plays Asemblance

Boy, was this game a letdown. I don't know if it was due to an actual fault in the game or just my own lack of comprehension of what the hell was going on, but I found little enjoyment in this odd (albeit unique) title. I literally don't even know if I finished this game. I still have it's sequel, Asemblance: Oversight downloaded and ready to play, but I'm unsure if I ever will after this.
Grand Theft Auto V Online: Nevets' Swan Song (YouTube link)

Nevets Plays Grand Theft Auto 5 (no commentary) on PlayStation 4. [Edited excerpt from Nevets Tours GTA V Online. It's a sad and lonely life with a sad and lonely end.

Gus Van Sant, eat your heart out.

Nevets takes a random, hour-long stroll (condensed to about 10 minutes) through Grand Theft Auto Online. Witnessing both the beauty and sad depravity which course through Los Santos' blood, he finds himself lost in curious wonder as he dwells on societies mores, the loss of innocence, and existence itself. [NO COMMENTARY] Nevets Plays LIMBO

I went into Limbo with a somewhat wary attitude. It's not that I thought it was a bad game but, on the contrary, I was intimidated by how artistically deep I heard it to be. I was wrong to be so hesitant (damn my overwhelmingly bad self-esteem), but correct in my assumption of the game's depth. This was both a fun and thought-provoking experience. Nevets Plays Oxenfree

This is by far one of the greatest games I've never heard anyone ever talk about before. On the surface, what seems like a retro-style point and clicky side scroller becomes something much deeper, more imaginative, creative, and interesting than most the best triple-A games I've come across.
Nevets Stinks at Alien: Isolation | A Random Failure Montage (Mano e Mano) (YouTube link)

On this random compilation of fails, I'm doing a blind playthrough of Alien: Isolation. The saddest part about this whole ordeal was that this video all took place before I'd even come in contact with the blasted "alien" in question. Nevets Plays Alien: Isolation

This is simultaneously the most terrifying game I've let's played thus far and my favorite. You thought I yelped like a scared pup on Until Dawn? Pfft, wait until you get a load of this. Alien Isolation was so good, in fact, that it actually enhanced my enjoyment of the Alien film franchise and its lore, resulting in a movie marathon sometime midway through this playthrough. Nevets Plays Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy: Season 01

My second Telltale playthrough, this is Guardian of the Galaxy... the game. And it's surprisingly awesome. The music especially made it worthwhile. Nevets Plays Manhunt

At the time, I gotta say, this game frustrated the hell outta me. I hated it and was glad when it was over. So why is it that I now have nostalgically fond memories of my time with it? Hmm. Perhaps I enjoyed it more than I thought. Who knows. Either way, this entire playthrough is basically a death montage. It's shocking that I ever made it to the end.
Max Payne | Laser Hallway Death Montage (YouTube link)

Several of my many, many deaths from the 2001 video game, Max Payne. This is a short montage featuring my troubles in the laser hallway thingy. It wasn't pretty.
Max Payne | End Game Death Montage (YouTube link)

After losing all audio from my original Let's Play of this final level of the 2001 PS2 video game, Max Payne (played on a PS4), I decided to not waste the leftover footage. Instead, I organized and utilized it into a celebratory musical montage of how much I stink at video games. Enjoy! Nevets Plays Max Payne

I've been wanting to play this game ever since it came out when I was a kid. Sadly, though, I just so happened to be a very poor kid whose family could only afford so many games per year... and this one just didn't make the cut. Luckily, however, it's now available on PS4 and I have money of my own to throw away. So here we go. Nevets Plays Until Dawn

Boy, was this an awesome game. This is Until Dawn and it's the first horror video game that I've ever let's played. I hadn't intended on screaming into a microphone, but it worked out that way quite a bit.
Are video games screwing kids up?

This is a verbose Facebook response that I decided to make even more verbose before plopping it down here as a blog entry. It's in support of video games against those who've had that age-old (or at least 80's old) tendency to downgrade them as a healthy art form.
Soma: Would you spend eternity on the Ark? (Spoilers)

This originally started as a post I made on a YouTube comments section somewhere. As usual, my vanity got the best of me after having read through what I wrote, so I felt I'd copypasta the whole thing and slap it down as a blog entry.
Nevets Plays Telltale's Game of Thrones: Season 01

My second attempt at a let's play, I hop into Telltale games' imagining of the Game of Thrones world. Truth be told, while I enjoyed the game, I wasn't particularly fond of my commentary over this one. But c'est la vie, memories are memories, so I'm glad I've at least got another one to look back on.
Why David Hayter Was Really Replaced in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

An uber Metal Gear fanboy since I was a young lad with a mere Pizza Hut demo disc, I was overjoyed when MGSV: The Phantom Pain was released. It was an excitement sadly dampened by the knowledge that the voice of Snake that I've come to know and love had been replaced by the bully from Stand by Me. In this article, I do my research to delve deep to figure out why this tragic event occurred.
Nevets Plays Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

My first attempt at recording myself playing a video game (audio commentary only), this is my blind playthrough of the video game Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. The audio isn't exactly pristine, but I've heard worse.
